Here’s a song Adriano Celentano wrote with the intention of it sounding like American English to its Italian audience, even though Adriano Celentano did not speak English. And he succeeded. The song became a huge hit, and many Europeans didn’t realize the lyrics were actually gibberish and not English. Adriano Celentano said that he wanted to explore communications barriers, so he wrote a song whose only theme was the inability to communicate. And it really does sound like American English, to the point where it messes with your brain a bit . It’s a wonderfully confusing song :)

I keep thinking I am going to understand what is being said and then realize it is complete gibberish. Wow did he really succeed here. Even that swagger of his while dancing seeming distinctly American. It maybe even has a twinge of southern accent in there.
I would probably have been fooled too if I didn’t understand English. Great find, this.

Sid Caesar used to do a similar act way back in the day called “double talk.” his family ran a cafe which he worked at, and learned to mimic the sounds of a few different languages. Not speak them, of course, just gibberish.

I think I first discovered this song burried deep down in the comments section of a Jalopnik post from long ago... It confused the crap out of me :D Naturally, I had to know more, and somewhere along the line this song became my jam.

If he had heard enough of the language to mimic it in gibb erish that closely, he might wake up speaking it if he got hit in the head hard enough. I don’t think my gibberish sounds that much like English; I’m thoroughly impressed.

The Great Andy Kaufman was no doubt a fan.

He did say he was a big fan of American music, which helps explain how he was able to mimic the sound so well.

I would suspect country and Western were included as well as maybe a little bit of gospel influence. Sounds like he had a good mix of influences.
